Phuket Amateur Golf Week 2017
4 – 10 June 2017 in Phuket, Thailand
Blue Canyon Country Club, Canyon Course
The Blue Canyon Lakes course is an exciting challenge for golfers of all abilities, and has the name suggests, has water-laden hazards at every turn. In fact, 17 out of the 18 holes feature water, so bring lots of balls with you.
Set over 18 holes with a 72-par, there are 5 sets of different tee placements to choose from, which gives the holes diversity and depth, so every time you play the Lakes, the experience is a little different.
One of the great features of this course is the large fairways that do much to counterbalance the water hazards, so if you hit the ball straight, you should have no problem at all, which is wishful thinking of course!
The 18th hole was voted by Asian Golf Monthly as the ‘Best Par Four in Asia’ in 2003. Those who make it in 2 should consider themselves in an elite group as the vast majority of Phuket golf visitors find their second shots well short of the green and lost in the jungle growing out of the open canyon which fronts the green.

Winding its way through a truly dramatic 1400 rai former tin mine site in the heart of Phuket, Red Mountain is surely one of Asia’s most exciting new courses. The course has been cleverly routed to take advantage of a huge variety of landforms and dizzying elevation changes. Scars left from the tin mine era have been imaginatively incorporated into the overall scheme, creating a unique character at the same time as establishing an indelible link with an important era in the Island’s past.
Designer Jon Morrow and co-designer Al Tikkanen, have created a highly strategic and challenging 6,900 yard layout. While the course is undoubtedly challenging, numerous risk and reward options create a fun playing environment, an exhilarating test of golf and a breathtaking scenic tour around a course destined to become a golfing landmark in the region.
