Laem Chabang is made up of 27 holes on 700 acres and makes use of 3 types of features which characterize each of the 9 holes. This handiwork is widely hailed by critics for the unique usage of the land’s mixed terrain of mountains, lakes and river valleys which are lovely as well as functional. Each type of terrain corresponds to a 9-hole course in a unique way, and as such each one is named Mountain, Lake and Valley.

Siam Country Club, Old Course

Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course is the first privately owned golf club in Thailand, founded by the late Dr. Thaworn Phornprapha, originally designed by I. Izumi. The golf course opened in 1971, and had hosted the Thailand Open 4 times together with many Asian Golf Circuits, and most recently after the renovation in 2007, becomes home of the LPGA in Thailand since 2007.

The golf course and clubhouse underwent a complete renovation in 2006, and opened in March 2007. A sister golf course is also simultaneously built nearby with its own clubhouse, called Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation. Lee Schmidt of Schmidt & Curley Design Inc. took on the redesign the Old Course but kept the original routing of I. Izumi and many of the old characters. Bunkers are added for a modern aesthetic look, feel and landscape. Seashore Paspalum is chosen for fairway grass, and Novotek for greens. Despite a new look, the Old Course remains a classic traditional tree line with many fond memories of the past. Classic, beauty, and challenge are what the Old Course is known for today in Thailand.

Just like the golf course, the clubhouse also had a 100% complete refurbishment. Utilizing the old structure, modern comforts are added while maintaining a soft executive touch and feel. The restaurant, overlooking the 18th hole (only 50 yd away ), enjoys spectacular view of the golf course, can host up to 180 guests, and is the best place to be at the end of the round. The guests will find the showers and locker rooms’ facilities to be as comfortable as their homes. Throughout the golf course, there are many kiosks and toilet stops that will assure the guests’ comfort.

Shortly after the Old Course was opened in March 2007, it hosted a world class tournament, Honda LPGA Thailand 2007 in October. In February 2009, the tournament moved to Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation. Since 2010, the Old Course has become home of the LPGA tournaments in February. Events such as the LPGA are testimony to the quality of the golf course, clubhouse, and services.

The renovation of Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course marks a commitment of a new level of excellence and is promised to be among the best in Asia Pacific.

Siam Country Club Plantation

Siam Country Club Pattaya Plantation was simultaneously built at the same time during the renovation of Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course, and was opened in April 2008. Designed by Lee Schmidt of Schmidt & Curley, the Plantation course has 27-holes and is meant to have a clear design distinction. The fairways, bunkers and greens are uniquely different from the Old Course. The routing sits high on rolling hills of the natural terrain meandering mountains and natural creeks with a panoramic view of Pattaya. Strong wind is one of the natural character and part of the challenge but the breeze makes the hottest day more pleasurable.

The “PLANTATION” name was given in the honour of the historic Sugar Cane, Tapioca, and Pineapple plantations that the course used to occupy previously, and each nine-hole is named accordingly.

One year after Plantation opened; it hosted the Honda LPGA Thailand 2009 in February, a testimony to quality and service of the golf course. From 2009 onward, the Plantation has been awarded the “Best Maintained Golf Course in Asia Pacific.”

Siam Country Club Plantation - Club HouseA unique architectural “Bird Wings” clubhouse sets on top of the hills. Views of the golf course and its surround undulating terrain can be seen from almost every corner of the clubhouse. From the front balcony, the view of the largest “Triple Green,” in Asia, 3 greens of 3 golf holes occupying almost 3,000 square meters is a memorable sight. Inside the clubhouse, ample space and modern style decorations of the locker rooms, restaurant, and pro-shop together with well trained staff is second to none.

Siam Country Club Waterside

Siam Country Club Waterside Course is the third layout from Siam Motors Group in Pattaya. The Waterside Course, designed by IMG, features gently sloping terrain, making it very different from Siam Country Club Old and Plantation Courses. Spread out over 200 acres the golfer friendly course is of the same championship quality and 5-star experience as its other two big brothers next door.

Environmental waste areas and straightforward designs are the emphasis of most holes at the Waterside Course. At over 7400 yards the back tees will challenge the best golfers. At the same time, other tees down to 5000 yards are available and offer enjoyment for all golfers.

Fairways are grassed with the latest variety of Paspalum grass while greens are a variety of Bermuda grass. Many of the holes are framed by water while greens are basically flush with the fairways making most holes play very friendly.

Some of the most notable holes include the 8th which is a long 600 yard par-5 that gives long hitters the option to cut across a dogleg left over water to reach the green in two or shorter hitters a layup, but still challenging shot over a deep ravine to make the green in regulation.

The final hole on the first nine is a great finishing hole playing around the large manmade lake in front of the club house. The 420 yard par-4 is a monster for any golfer, especially playing into the prevailing winds. Many rounds will be settled here with the rare birdie possible, but many more bogies or worse more likely.

Burapha Golf Club

Burapha Golf Club, previously a member’s only course, has hosted several professional tournaments including the 2010 Thailand Open. The 36 holes at Burapha have been designed to take full advantage of the beauty of the land and its natural features – lakes, hills, palms trees and tropical vegetation, all skillfully landscaped.

Designed by Americans Gary Panks and David Graham; Burapha Golf Club is laid out on hilly terrain. The East (A-B) Course features wide fairways and is perfect for the up & coming golfer. The West (C-D) Course is a challenge for more advanced and professional golfers. The golf courses are both well maintained, fairways and greens generally kept in better than average condition, and the holes are well placed.
